  1. Hi Richard,

Your story is mainly related to pride, courage and freedom (in this case, of Salamanca). The eagle has been a symbol of these three for centuries and in different cultures. You can work with it but you must find a way to link it directly with Essex people. What this eagle could have in particular that could be used to represent directly ESSEX people's pride, courage and freedom. But that's just an idea of how to use symbolism or icons in a story.
This particular story has more symbols (the map of how the battle was won and the organization of both sides of it that, I found, it's what called your attention). Start then working with this map. See how you can tell the story through it, work with the shapes that you find in it, work with different colours (that are related to the story), create patterns, create shapes you might use to make the structure of your lighting, etc.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any doubt in the sketching process.

  2. Hi Richard,

Still waiting to see what you have done in the following:

1)Market research (gap in the market, market you're addressing and competitors, prices in the market... meaning, how much are your competitors selling their products)
    2)Colour trends
3)Suppliers (materials, technologies you're planning to use, costs)
    4) PDS (what points are you planning to consider of your Product Design Specification? Start making a list so you are aware of considering them through your research).

Hope this helps and to see what you have done next class.
Don't forget to update your blog!

    See you soon,
    Mariana.
